July Favourites

28/07/2011

Sleek Storm Palette
I have been using this constantly this month. The shades are all wearable for the daytime and evening which makes it a versatile product. All of the colours are very pigmented as are all of Sleek's products. The palette consists of 12 shadows; two are matte, the rest are shimmery.
I have enjoyed using the dark brown shadow to fill in my eyebrows and also use in my crease for some definition.

E.L.F Bronzer/Blush Duo
I recently purchased this, however it's quickly become one of my favourites.
The bronzer is very pigmented so you have to use a very light hand to apply it to the cheekbones.
The blush is a very lovely dusty pink. It's a dupe for NARS blush in Orgasm.

E.L.F High Definition Powder
This will always be in my monthly favourites.
It gives a lovely matte finish to the skin.
It also gives a soft look.
It has never broke me out and I sometimes wear it without foundation.

E.L.F Flawless Finish Foundation
Yes, it's made it to my monthly favourites!
I love this foundation. It hasn't broke me out (yet).
The coverage is really light, however it's buildable.
The spf smells like sun cream which is a bit weird at first!
 I love it!!!

Simple Light Moisturiser
This is my third bottle of this I think and will always be a re-purchase.
It does exactly what it says on the tin!
Light, moisturising and great for sensitive skin.
It's also really cheap! Around £2-£3

Superdrugs Tea Tree Cleanser & Toner
Really cheap once again, around the £2 mark.
I remove my makeup every night with a face wipe and then squirt some of this onto a round pad and cleanse my skin. It gets deep into the skin cells and removes the clogged dirt. The results are gross but amazing.
I've also found my face is less pink so i think the toner side does work!

Maxfactor Weightless Foundation
I am really funny when it comes to buying foundation as my skin is sensitive. I have been using this for around a month now and it's been amazing. I've never broke out. The coverage is medium however i do believe it's buildable. The only thing I dislike is the scent; a sickly sweet smell. Other than that, I will definitely be re-purchasing!

 Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
This has lasted me for about two months and is starting to run out now.
YouTube gurus love this product which is why I bought it.
The coverage is beyond excellent which is surprising as it's from such a cheap brand!
It works wonders for under eye dark circles and redness.
Definitely been loving it this month!

Hope you enjoyed,
Lots of love,

Elf Haul

I ordered three items from ELF on Tuesday evening. I got an email through yesterday to say my order had been dispatched and it arrived this morning! Yipee!

My order:
Studio Brush Shampoo £3.50
Studio Bronzer/Blush Duo £3.50
Flawless Finish Foundation (Porcelain) £6.50

I only buy things from the studio line now. The things I've bought previously from the studio line have been okay,  however nothing I would recommend to buy. I have always been pleased with everything I've bought from the studio line.

I needed a brush shampoo as I think one of the most important things when looking after your skin is making sure your makeup brushes are clean. I will happily admit I only deep cleanse mine once a week. I never use a 'daily' spray. However, I will be purchasing the studio daily brush spray when it's back in stock!

I usually just use a normal shampoo (bad I know!) to clean my brushes. I was stuck between choosing whether to buy the Bare Essentials brush shampoo, the ELF one or the one by Body Shop (which I couldn't find online!) I opt'd and bought this so I'll let you know if it works etc.

I love studio packaging.

A mirror inside is always handy!

Swatches. I think the bronzer is quite 'shimmery'. I tried to use it this morning and I don't think I will ever use it. I bought this at chance really. I'm not a huge fan of the 'bronzed' look. I have never faked tan'd in my life, let alone owned a bronzer. I do like the look of defined cheek bones. I just think mine are non-existant! I will try to work with this product again one day, but I think I'll steer clear from trying to enhance my non existant cheekbones! The blush is lovely though. A really pretty pink which looks very pretty on the apples of the cheeks.

 Product information, directions etc.

I'm very pale skinned. If you follow me on Tumblr then you probably already know this. I have already done a blog post on my top three favourite foundations for pale white skin which you can find here. The written information is on this post. Therefore, I took a big chance buying a foundation from a brand I've never tried a foundation from before. I like to play it safe and stick with foundations I know I won't be wasting my pennies on.

My shade is the lightest; porcelain.

It's actually quite a heavy but expensive looking bottle. I was quite impressed with the weight of the glass.

SPF of 15, great for the non-existant Summer. Even better if you're not from England ha-ha!
Also Oil free, which means your pores won't get clogged, therefore zero breakouts! (touch wood!)

I love their studio packaging so much. So well thought out, sleek and expensive looking.

The applicator is a pump which is okay. I think it's easier to get the foundation out when it comes to a pump and it also means you don't waste the product as much. I find with 'tube/squirt' foundations that if I squirt too much out then the product is wasted. Pump applicators pump out little product meaning if you need more you can pump again, instead of wasting product. On the downside, I find with pump applicators (more seen in glass bottles), it's hard to get the product out of the bottom once it's nearly finished. Annoying as hell!

I haven't used the foundation yet, however I swatched a little on my forehead this morning and  I think the colour match is near perfect. I want to try it out for at least a week or two before I make a final decision about it. I know a few people are a little dubious about buying it (as was I!) but it's really up to you!

July buys

20/07/2011

I treated myself to all of this last night. I haven't bought anything for myself in such a long time. I have looked and searched high and low in the Summer sales, but haven't found anything I've really liked or anything that fits me nicely.

Leggings - Miss Selfridge £22.00
Shoes - £50.00 £20.00
ELF Studio Flawless Finish Foundation (Porcelain) £6.50
ELF Studio Bronze/Blush Duo £3.50
ELF Studio Brush Shampoo £3.50

The leggings are similar to the ones that Redfoo wears in the Shufflin' music video (LMFAO!). I only realised this after purchasing, however I think they're different and I cannot wait to wear them.

I really wanted to buy myself some black creepers, however they are quite pricey so I've put off buying a pair for a while. I own  few pairs of brogues so when I saw these in the sale, I just had to purchase them. I love that they're inspired by brogues & creepers. They're also real swede. Reduced from £50.00? I cannot complain!

I'm not sure whether the foundation will be too dark for me. I'm literally so pale, there's only a few foundations on the market that cater for my shade. Funnily enough, Ivory foundations used to be a perfect colour match for me, however now they're too dark?!

 My most reliable foundations
1#- GOSH x-ceptional wear, shade Porcelain RRP:£7.99 (Superdrugs)
2# - L'Oreal Paris True Match, shade C1 Rose Ivory RRP:£10-£12 (Superdrugs, Boots etc)
3# (Current foundation) MaXfactor's Weightless foundation, shade Light Ivory RRP:£9.99 (Boots)

I'm hoping the ELF flawless foundation will match my expectations. I hear it's similar to MAC's studio fix?

Have you tried the ELF foundation?
I've never tried the brush shampoo, have you?
Let me know guys!

Lots of love, Ashleigh xxx
